Some great racing Sunday! The Gustafson family enjoyed a sweep of the elite men. Judah bunny-hopped his way to a clean win and Scott managed to best both John Meyers and Craig “the Geeze” Gietzen in a hotly contested battle. Andy Fedewa laid waste to the SS field.
Claire Reeves and Lydia Sweetman proved that CX practice makes perfect by racking up a couple of Ws in the Womens and Womens Masters classes respectively, while Carmen Davidson enjoyed the VanderKitten spoils for her efforts in the Junior Womens race.
Brad Rivard, also demonstrating his well-honed CX practice skills, made the holeshot stick for three laps. Hayden Fox had other ideas, but those ideas were set aside after an unfortunate run in with a bike rack just outside the tape left Hayden chasing for the duration. Brad managed to keep Alex Yingling off his wheel for his first CX victory. In the Sport Masters Leonard Van Drunen bested Clarke Bennet by just 7 seconds in a real squeaker.
The battle du’jour was served up in the Beginner Mens class. Matt Jaglowski nailed the holeshot but couldn’t hold it. It looked to be all over but the cryin’ once Dylan Krupp made the move on him. With a lap to go Matt seemed to find new legs and erased the significant gap that Dylan had built. The battle came under the Founder’s Brewing banner on the notorious “Flyover” and went to the line, but ultimately Dylan squeaked it out in a barnburner. Patrick Smythe came out on top of the Beginners Masters field.
A quick note that we’re working on the series results and will have them out shortly.
